When women view pornography, blood flows away from the part of the brain responsible for processing visual information, new research has shown.
Researchers believe this indicates that women are concentrating more on feelings of arousal than on the visual stimulus. Most other visual activities cause greater blood flow to the visual cortex.
The results may explain why women with anxiety often have difficulty experiencing arousal, as high anxiety is often correlated with increased blood flow to the visual cortex.
